This article examines how Farmer Field School-type extension platforms can be integrated with Community Group Saving and Lending (CGSL) credit mechanisms to accelerate technology diffusion among rural smallholders in South Sudan. The argument is developed from doctoral field evidence collected in Eastern Equatoria, Jonglei and Lakes State between 2022 and 2025, where 85 questionnaires were distributed and 81 valid responses were analysed alongside 17 qualitative interviews. The study responds to a practical problem: farmers may learn about improved seed, better agronomic practices, post-harvest management and mechanised tools, but knowledge alone rarely produces adoption when households lack seasonal liquidity. Conversely, micro-credit alone may not raise productivity when borrowers lack technical guidance, demonstration plots, confidence and peer learning. The article therefore conceptualises technology diffusion as a two-sided process in which field-based learning reduces informational risk while CGSL credit reduces liquidity constraints. Descriptive results indicate strong agreement that rural finance makes a difference in agricultural productivity (overall mean = 4.58), that productivity rises through investment (mean = 4.49), that modern technology is capital intensive (mean = 4.30), and that scarcity of working capital remains acute (mean = 4.68). Chi-square tests show significant associations between CGSL participation and technology-related productivity outcomes (χ² = 15.92, p = 0.0001), while logistic regression shows that access to credit significantly predicts investment in modern agricultural technologies (β = 1.9459, p = 0.026). The article concludes that integrated FFS-CGSL models can convert learning into adoption by synchronising training cycles, seasonal loan disbursement, input procurement, peer monitoring and repayment support. It recommends bundled credit products, demonstration-linked lending, gender-sensitive savings mobilisation and agroecologically tailored repayment calendars.
