Information regarding the culture of Africa needs to be collected and saved before it is lost forever to the increasing tempo of modernization. This calls for preserving the stories, dances, music, and also other traditions such as measurement. People have always used some form of measurement for time, distance, weight, and volume. The author was able to collect measurement information by using university students who sought out the oldest people of their villages to find out how these things were done before the European types of measurement replaced the African methods.
