International audience The pandemic context has led to an increase in global cooperation in emergency domains under pressure. They include Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), health components, and clinical devices, in particular, critical medical ventilators. In parallel, linked consortia and innovation ecosystems have emerged to this end, incorporating stakeholders with the necessary skills, potentially private and public, and with the support of government agencies. To maximize the potential for cooperation, as will be shown in this chapter, some of these initiatives were based on open innovation ecosystems: innovation ecosystems related to open paradigm features. In this perspective, complementary elements and symbioses in terms of involved open innovation ecosystems include the cooperation of open innovation, 3D printing open elements, open requirements and open source hardware. This chapter, therefore, will analyze relevant case studies linking the design and manufacture of medical devices for the purpose of supporting pandemic care and recovery.
