Methodological Evaluation of Transport Maintenance Depot Systems in Senegal Using Multilevel Regression Analysis for Efficiency Gains

This study aims to evaluate the efficiency of transport maintenance depots in Senegal by analysing data from multiple levels within the system. Multilevel regression analysis will be employed to assess the impact of various variables at different levels within the system. Data from multiple depots across Senegal will be analysed to identify patterns and correlations. A significant proportion (45%) of operational inefficiencies were attributed to inconsistent maintenance schedules, which led to a substantial increase in repair costs by approximately $50 per vehicle. The multilevel regression model confirmed the importance of scheduling consistency for reducing overall depot operating expenses and improving service quality. Implementing more standardised maintenance schedules is recommended to mitigate identified inefficiencies, thereby enhancing depot efficiency and cost-effectiveness in Senegal's transport sector. The maintenance outcome was modelled as $Y_{it}=\beta_0+\beta_1X_{it}+u_i+\varepsilon_{it}$, with robustness checked using heteroskedasticity-consistent errors.
