Migration Flows and Demographic Variable Processing

This R script details the process of summarizing migration flows from target origins and destinations and sociodemographic characteristics of the migrants using IPUMS International census microdata. Records from the IPUMS Tanzania 2012 extract are grouped by unique combinations of origin and destination district and the person weight variable in each group is summed to generate an approximate raw total of migrants. The weighted mean of age, sex, and educational attainment of migrants in each flow is calculated to generate a representative statistic of each for migrants in each flow.
