Diese Masterarbeit untersucht die Motivation ghanaischer Translationswissenschaft-Studierender beim Erlernen von Deutsch als Fremdsprache am Ghana Institute of Languages. Anhand eines Fragebogens mit offenen und geschlossenen Fragen wurden Beweggründe, Interessen und Herausforderungen der Lernenden erfasst und qualitativ sowie quantitativ ausgewertet. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass berufliche Perspektiven, kulturelles Interesse sowie die Rolle von Lehrkräften zentrale Einflussfaktoren darstellen. Die Arbeit beleuchtet darüber hinaus kontextuelle Besonderheiten des deutschsprachigen Fremdsprachenunterrichts in Ghana und gibt didaktische Empfehlungen für eine motivierende Unterrichtsgestaltung. This master’s thesis investigates the motivation of Ghanaian translation students in learning German as a foreign language at the Ghana Institute of Languages. Using a questionnaire with both open and closed questions, learners’ reasons, interests, and challenges were identified and analyzed through qualitative and quantitative methods. The findings reveal that career prospects, cultural interest, and the role of teachers are key motivational factors. Furthermore, the study highlights contextual characteristics of German language teaching in Ghana and provides didactic recommendations for fostering learner motivation.
