ABSTRACT   Noise pollution is a growing concern in urban areas worldwide, negatively affecting quality of life. While research on noise pollution exists in Ethiopia, studies in Dodola Town are scarce. This research addresses this gap by investigating noise levels and their sources within the town. Employing a mixed-methods approach, data was collected from 194 participants through a combination of surveys, key informant interviews, and focus group discussions. Digital sound level meters were used to measure noise levels from various establishments and equipment. The findings reveal nightclubs and bars as the most significant noise polluters, exceeding the World Health Organization's recommended limits (40 dB at night and 45 dB during the day) with noise levels reaching 76.9 dB(A). The study confirms the negative impact of noise pollution on residents, with 95% reporting sleep disturbance, 59% experiencing interference with communication, and 68% witnessing disruptions in educational settings. Noise mitigation strategies currently used by establishments include volume reduction, noise barriers, adjusted operating hours, proper equipment lubrication and maintenance, and regular machinery upkeep. The study further explores how factors like age, gender, education level, marital status, and proximity to noise sources influence residents' perceptions of noise pollution. Based on these findings, the research emphasizes the need for awareness campaigns through workshops, media outreach (press, radio, television, and newspapers) to empower communities and minimize noise pollution in Dodola Town.                  1
