The recording at the center of this item is a Shilluk song. Alaki is the village of King Kwongo Daak, the present King of the Shilluk. The Shilluk King is considered to be of his maternal uncles’ village. And after his installation, he is expected to builds his village in the area that belongs to his maternal uncles. But King Kwongo decided not to build his village in Wadajwok from which hailed his mother. He built it in Thworo and called it Alaki. The composer is saying that the customary law must be changed in order to allow the king to build anywhere. And that Nyikango and Daak his son will have no objection if any king decides not to build his village in the area of his maternal uncles.
