In this presentation, we aim to provide a semantic analysis of numeral reduplication in Maasai. This phenomenon is often analyzed as either a marker of distributivity or of event plurality (pluractionality) in various languages where it is attested. We present an experimental study based on empirical data and argue that reduplicated numerals in Maasai function as markers of pluractionality, distinguishing them from distributive items. Note: This talk has not gone through a process of peer review, and findings should therefore be treated as preliminary and subject to change.
