The recording at the center of this item is a funeral song. Amaylek was a paramount chief of Tonga. He ruled in a difficult time of famines; during the reign of King Gwang (1917-1944). He was a just chief and very hospitable, and taking care of orphans. Even Nuer people used to come from across the River Nile bringing their disputes to him for settlement. This item consists of a recorded Shilluk song (wav file), accompanied with annotation (in Praat TextGrid) and associated information: metadata, permissions and speaker questionnaire.
