Perceived Algorithmic Recommendation, Repeated Exposure to Psychologically Distressing Content, and Mental Health Indicators Among Egyptian Youth Aged 15–30

Literature-informed, cross-sectional observational student research combining a literature review, conceptual framework, Egyptian contextual case study, and one anonymous survey component. The study examines associations among perceived recommendation-related feed adaptation, repeated content patterns, emotional-content exposure, social-media use, and self-reported mental-health indicators among Egyptian respondents aged 15–30.

The primary analysis includes 133 respondents aged 15–30. Two Under-15 responses were retained in the private raw export but excluded from the derived primary analysis. The study reports associations, not causal effects, and does not provide clinical diagnoses, direct measurements of proprietary platform algorithms, or clinical prediction. The sample was recruited through voluntary online convenience sampling and should not be considered statistically representative of all Egyptian youth.

This record is a student research preprint/archive. It has not been peer reviewed or accepted by a journal. Public files exclude the raw participant-level survey export and other row-level data to protect privacy.
