This study investigates the performance and efficiency of 20W monocrystalline and polycrystalline solar panels in Bayan Kara, Birnin Kebbi metropolis. Monocrystalline panels, which are made of pure silicon, are more efficient (15%–22%), take up less space, have a black appearance, and perform better in warm weather, making them ideal for areas with high solar intensity. In contrast, polycrystalline panels, constructed from multicrystalline silicon, typically have lower efficiency (13%–18%), a blue tint, and decreased performance in hot conditions, but are more cost-effective. Both types of panels usually last 25 to 35 years. The findings of the research suggest that monocrystalline panels are superior to polycrystalline panels in the specific location studied. Therefore, monocrystalline solar panels are recommended for residential solar power generation in Bayan Kara due to their higher efficiency and thermal performance, while polycrystalline panels may be a better choice for those prioritizing lower initial costs.
