This directory contains a suite of ASPECT parameter (.prm) files used for geodynamic simulations of rift evolution under varying model conditions. These files are part of a systematic parameter sweep exploring the effects of rheology, weakening, and boundary conditions on deformation and melt processes.

File Naming Convention
Each file name encodes the key model parameters used in that simulation. The format is:

driar_mXXrYrZwWcCfFsSpPvV[modifier].prm

where:

mXX = mantle viscosity or model index
rY = rheology configuration (e.g., viscosity structure or flow law)
wZ = weakening parameter (e.g., strain or viscosity weakening factor)
fF = friction coefficient or related parameter
sS = strain weakening or softening parameter
vV = velocity boundary condition or extension rate

Additional suffixes (e.g., “-15”, “r8”, “r9”, “r10”) indicate modified runs with adjusted parameters or sensitivity tests.

Simulation Setup
All models are run using ASPECT with consistent domain geometry, mesh resolution, and boundary conditions unless otherwise specified in the parameter file. Variations between files are limited to the parameters encoded in the filename.

Solver Notes
Some configurations may require specific solver settings. In particular:

Usage
To run a simulation:

mpirun -np [N] aspect input.prm

where [N] is the number of MPI processes.

For batch runs, these files can be looped over in a shell script.

Output
Each simulation produces standard ASPECT outputs, including:

Solution fields (velocity, pressure, temperature, etc.)
Visualization files (.vtu, .pvtu)
Log files for solver performance and convergence
