The devastating civil war in Liberia, spanning from 1989 to 2003, drastically altered the nation’s socio-economic landscape and severely damaged its once-prestigious higher education system. Historically recognized as a safe haven and an academic beacon for brilliant scholars across the African continent, Liberia suffered massive infrastructure destruction and a profound, lasting "brain drain" during this fourteen-year conflict. This research evaluates the post-war impact on Liberian educational institutions, focusing heavily on the critical pillars of accessibility, quality, and affordability. It explicitly investigates how violent disruption diverted essential state resources, forced qualified educators to flee the country, and left the remaining vulnerable student population highly exposed to severe learning deficits.
