This paper deals with prediction of transient instability on 132kV grid network from Afam to Port Harcourt mains injection substation in Nigeria by determining the dynamic response of the generators on the system during fault conditions using Trapezoidal numerical technique.  The network’s data collected from Transmission Company of Nigeria were used as input to perform transient stability simulation in Electrical Transient Analyzer Program (ETAP 19.1) environment, so as to investigate the differential change in generator rotor angles, change in generator bus voltage and frequency of the system. Numerical techniques were deployed with circuit breaker and relay time setting (0.00, 0.02, 0.04, 0.06, 0.08, 0.10, 0.12, 0.14, 0.16, and 0.18.0.2s), when balanced 3 phase fault was initiated with the aim of determining the critical clearing angle (CCA) and critical clearing time (CCT) of the transmission grid. The results obtained shows that Trapezoidal rule numerical technique is stable, accurate, has a fast response time of 0.02s, lower percentage error of 5.6% and a stable critical clearing angle of 35.480. The Trapezoidal rule numerical technique is better when used compared to modified Euler method in sustaining stability during transient disturbance to the network under investigation when in operation
