This study is a scoping review that aims to map and synthesise existing literature on the prevalence, risk factors, and interventions related to maternal perinatal mental health disorders in South Africa. The review will include peer-reviewed and grey literature published between 2014 and 2024, identified through databases such as PubMed, PsycINFO, Scopus, and Google Scholar. Guided by the Population–Concept–Context (PCC) framework and reported in accordance with PRISMA-ScR guidelines, the study will explore patterns in the literature, identify gaps, and provide an overview of existing evidence to inform future research, policy, and service development.
