This study presents a strategic framework for prioritizing grid and off-grid areas for clean energy deployment within the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) franchise area in Nigeria, using the Energy Access Explorer (EAE) tool. By integrating geospatial data on electricity access, population density, infrastructure, and socio-economic indicators, the research identifies high-impact zones for renewable energy interventions. The analysis supports evidence-based decision-making to optimize resource allocation, enhance energy equity, and accelerate progress toward Nigeria’s sustainable development goals. Findings highlight critical regions where decentralized energy solutions can complement grid expansion, offering a scalable model for utility-led clean energy planning.
