This dataset contains processed HLA-A genotyping results and accompanying clinical metadata from a study of 64 Ugandan people living with HIV (32 periodontitis cases and 32 healthy controls), nested within the Oral Papilloma Virus Microbiota and Cancer (OHPVMC) parent study. The genetic component features HLA-A allele calls in CSV format, generated through nanopore sequencing of exons 2-3 using Oxford Nanopore technology, with sequences aligned to the IMGT/HLA reference database. The clinical metadata includes comprehensive periodontal health assessments (WHO CPI criteria), demographic information (age, sex, education, occupation), HIV treatment history (ART duration), and behavioral factors (smoking, alcohol use).

All samples underwent standardized processing, including DNA extraction from buffy coats and library preparation using Oxford Nanopore's Rapid Barcoding protocol. The dataset provides a unique resource for investigating host genetic factors in periodontitis susceptibility among HIV-positive African populations, while also serving as a reference for nanopore-based HLA typing methodologies.
