This study will synthesize existing literature on intercropping systems to evaluate their impacts on biophysical properties. It constitutes the first component of a planned dual-review approach. The second review will examine the socioeconomic and livelihood impacts of intercropping systems in Southern Africa. Together, the two reviews will provide a robust evidence base to inform intervention-level adjustments and support policy alignment.
