This protocol outlines a rapid review examining community-level snakebite prevention and response in East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda). The review addresses three questions: (1) what national and international guidance and communication materials exist for snakebite prevention and response, (2) what is known about health-seeking behaviour and barriers to care following snakebite in rural African settings, and (3) what evidence exists on the effectiveness of community-level communication interventions. PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, and grey literature sources will be searched, and a narrative synthesis will be conducted to map the existing evidence and identify gaps.
