Purpose: Estimate (1) the proportion of completed/terminated SSA RCTs that are published and (2) the time from primary completion to journal publication.
Design & data source: Cross-sectional study of RCTs registered in ClinicalTrials.gov and PACTR (registered ≥2010; primary completion < Jan 1, 2025; SSA site).
Key outcomes: Publication status (journal article found/not found) and time-to-publication (months from primary completion to first journal publication).
Key findings (headline): Of 3,026 eligible RCTs, 1,983 (65.5%) had a journal publication; median time-to-publication = 34.2 months (95% CI 32.4–35.5).
Planned outputs: Descriptive tables; Kaplan–Meier curves overall and by subgroups (registry, recruitment status, age category, funding, single vs multi-country); policy-relevant recommendations to reduce non-/late publication.
