Recording of a traditional folktale TMABa_BX_170606 A discourse-based documentation of San varieties in the Western Sandveld Region (Central district, Botswana)

Bompoeste recites a traditional folktale about the prey mantis. This bundle includes the audio recording of the narrative which is provided with a provisional English translation. Lee is the linguist on the project and has worked with different San communities in Namibia and Botswana since 2011. Bompoetse is a female story teller from the Tchoe community at Mabuo - south of Serowe. The community at Mabuo live in close contact with groups they refer to as "Kgalagadi tcoa" - who are said to be originally from the Kweneng district and have moved eastwards and resettled at Mabuo.
