The relationships of sex, education, age, student-status, marital status, and classification group to MMPI response patterns were investigated. The sample comprised 568 normal Afrikaans-speakers. Significant profile differences were found between the following pairs of groups: men and women, 16- to 24-yr.-olds and 24- to 55-yr.-olds, persons with 7 to 10 years of schooling and 11 or more years of schooling, students and nonstudents of the same age, single and married persons, and ‘colored’ and white persons by means of Hotelling's T 2 . Use of eta-squared and omega-squared indicated that even though the variables did affect MMPI response, the effects were small.
