This software archive contains the R Markdown workflows supporting the household, health, and public-opinion analyses reported in “Foe and Ore: Telecoupling, Uneven Development, and Just Transition in Guinea’s Critical Bulk Mineral Frontiers.” Foe_and_Ore_DHS_Analysis.Rmd harmonizes the 2005, 2012, 2018, and 2021 Guinea DHS/MIS surveys and reproduces the Wave 1 household and maternal health-care analyses, the Simandou pre-production baseline, and the corresponding supplementary results. Foe_and_Ore_Afrobarometer_Analysis.Rmd harmonizes geocoded Afrobarometer Rounds 5–9 and reproduces the public-service, deprivation, and China-perception results used in Figure 3 and Appendix D. Raw DHS and Afrobarometer microdata are not redistributed. Users must obtain the source data directly from The DHS Program and Afrobarometer under their respective access and data-use requirements. The scripts generate non-identifying aggregate tables and figure-source files used in the manuscript and Supplementary Information. The Wave 1 DHS models estimate adjusted spatial associations and are not causal estimates of mining impacts. The Simandou DHS results describe pre-production conditions, and the Afrobarometer analyses are descriptive.
