This dataset supports the manuscript "Do compound climate extremes reach the dinner table? Evidence from crop phenology and household nutrition in China". It contains the input data used to construct the analysis-ready panels reported in the manuscript, including the China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS) household nutrition panel, raw 1-km grid-level crop phenology panels for maize, wheat and rice, and a 0.1° ERA5-Land-derived annual extreme-climate index cube for China during 2000–2019.

The household nutrition panel provides individual-level dietary outcomes, including dietary diversity scores (DDS), macronutrient shares, and household demographic covariates across five CHNS waves (2000–2011). The three crop phenology panels provide pixel-year observations of crop phenological dates, including early-stage, heading-stage and maturity day-of-year variables. The climate cube contains annual single and compound extreme-climate indices, including TXx, TNn, PRCPTOT, CDD, dry-hot, wet-hot, dry-cold and wet-cold indicators. File sizes and MD5 checksums are provided in the accompanying manifest.

These files are intended to be used with the associated code repository to reconstruct the analysis-ready panels used for the manuscript regressions. The associated analysis code is archived separately at DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.21298342.
