Report on the magnetic observations made during the total solar eclipse, May 17–18, 1901, at the Royal Alfred Observatory, Mauritius Island

I have much, pleasure in forwarding contact prints of the magnetograph traces (Adie system) obtained during the total solar eclipse of May 18, 1901. The value of 1 mm of ordinate is for D , 1′.117, for H , 2.66), and for Z , 7.7γ. It will be observed that the sensibility of the horizontal intensity trace is about double that recommended by the British Association for the Advancement of Science, and on the originals slight tremors are seen between 7:15 and 7:50 and occasionally between 8:05 and 9 A.M. Mauritius mean local times, the corresponding Greenwich mean astronomical times of May 17 being, respectively, 15:25 to 16:00 and 16:15 to 17:10.
