Shekgalagadi of the Tjhauba Field Materials

The materials here represent a wide variety of speech genres, including linguistic elicitations (e.g., wordlists or short grammatical judgment tasks), picture identification tasks (e.g., flipping through guidebooks on local ecology to get area-specific lexical information as well as inter-speaker variation in knowledge and pronunciation of these words), procedurals (e.g., recipes or crafting how-tos), interviews (e.g., sociolinguistic, metalinguistic, ethnographic), folktales, and naturalistic conversations between Tjhauba speakers. Almost all recording sessions produced both audio and video recordings. Associated secondary data (e.g., ELAN transcription files) are bundled with the relevant primary data.
