Soundscape-2020

The state of health emergency in the Democratic Republic of Congo covered the period from March 23 to July 22, 2020 in response to the Coronavirus pandemic. Meanwhile, a new policy took effect, focusing on preventive and proactive measures to slow the spread of the virus. To monitor the evolution of the urban soundscape during this period, we voluntarily agreed to participate in the development of a global dataset as part of the Silent Cities project. Thus, an AudioMoth sensor (Device ID: 243B1F075C7A75FD) was deployed between April 30 and July 5, 2020, positioned on a water tower about 10 m above ground in front of the Lisowski Botanical Garden of the University of Kisangani (0.51228° N, 25.20744° E, 391 m asl). Data were collected weekly according to the Silent Cities protocol (1 location x 1 recorder x 6 records/h x 24 h). This generated 8906 files grouped in 30 batches and posted on OSF website for data consolidation worldwide.
