Stakeholder participation data from a cross-scale action-research intervention on small-scale fisheries in Madagascar

This dataset contains information on the participation of different fishery stakeholder groups involved in an action-research intervention in Madagascar’s mud crab fisheries. The intervention covered four main regions, Diana, Boeny, Menabe, and Atsimo Andrefana, as well as the central fisheries administration. Stakeholder participation was assessed between 2020 and 2024 through an iterative participatory monitoring and evaluation (PME) procedures. The description and analysis of stakeholder participation were based on various activity reports produced as part of the PME processes. The dataset is organized into three tables :table 1 provides a list of the data sources used;table 2 compiles interpretations of participation-related information reported in these sources;and table 3 provides scores assigned to these interpretations.This dataset is associated with the publication"Working together to scale collective action in small-scale fisheries" that investigated the impact of the action-research intervention in fishery governance by examining changes in stakeholder participation over time and space.
