Field-collected Glossina pallidipes were collected from Shimba Hills National Reserve in Kenya using baited blue biconical tsetse fly traps, preserved using moistened cotton wool, and transported to the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe)-Muhaka field station for dissection and microscopic examination to ascertain trypanosome infection status in fly midgut and mouthpart. This video shows a dissected mouthpart of G. pallidipes whose hypopharynx is full of infective Trypanosoma congolense parasites.
