SUPPLY CHAIN RESILIENCE IN THE RWANDAN CONSTRUCTION SECTOR AMIDST GLOBAL DISRUPTIONS

This study investigates supply chain resilience in Rwanda’s construction sector amidst global disruptions. Using a mixed-methods approach, primary data were gathered through interviews with industry stakeholders, and secondary data were sourced from relevant reports and studies. Quantitative analysis reveals significant improvements between 2010 and 2014, including a 40% rise in construction output (from 500M RWF to 700M RWF), a 33% reduction in lead times (from 30 to 20 days), and a 66.7% decrease in supply chain disruptions (from 15 to 5 annually). Statistical results demonstrated a strong correlation between enhanced supplier diversity and reduced vulnerabilities (r = 0.89, p < 0.05). Adoption of sustainable practices and technological investments notably decreased cost variability (χ² = 18.65, p < 0.01). The study concludes that strategic interventions such as diversifying suppliers, increasing technology investments, and promoting sustainability significantly enhance resilience. It recommends strengthening local supplier networks, scaling technological integration, and fostering workforce development for continued growth and stability.
