School feeding programs have emerged as strategic interventions to address these multidimensional challenges by simultaneously improving child nutrition, educational outcomes, gender equity, and local agricultural development simultaneously. This systematic review, conducted under the PRISMA framework, analysed global, region-al, and national literature on school feeding programs, with a particular focus on Togo. Data were retrieved from multiple databases (Google Scholar, PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, ResearchGate, Crossref, and Google) as well as grey literature, covering the period from 1960 to 2026. The results highlight significant disparities in coverage: while 25% of school-aged children worldwide benefited from school feeding in 2022, Sub-Saharan Africa lagged behind with coverage of 19% coverage. In Togo, school-feeding initiatives began in 1967 with Catholic Relief Services and have since evolved into a nationally coordinated program run by the Agency for Grassroots Development (ANADEB). Despite this progress, challenges persist, including financial dependence on external donors, logistical constraints, and limited institutional capacity. The review concludes that the sustainability of school feeding programs depends on coherent integration of institutional governance, stable national financing, and strong community participation.
