Synergies for sustainability in Algeria: A dynamic ARDL and KRLS analysis of renewable energy and green growth

This study examines Algeria's green economy and renewable energy sources. The dynamic correlation over time shows people's renewable energy consumption habits, which indicates that the rise in GDP, including the rise in per capita income, reinforces the idea that individuals in Algeria tend to increase the consumption of non-renewable energies and therefore the societal preferences for the consumption of renewable energies decrease, and this is what decision makers should take into account in enhancing the effectiveness of the green economy. Between 2000 and 2021, dynamic ARDL and KRLS models were used to analyze Algeria's GDP per capita in relation to its consumption of renewable energy as a proportion of total energy usage. The results indicate a projected rise in Algeria's per capita GDP that affects negatively renewable energy use in the short-run. By introducing the benefits resulting from the use of renewable energies, especially through various audio-visual means and advertising, Algeria might potentially reduce its dependence on fossil fuels for consumer energy and encourage investment in renewable energy sources.
