Systematic review question: What is the safety, efficacy, immunogenicity, and duration of protection of licensed Ebola virus vaccines in preventive vaccination and outbreak response settings? Methods: Cochrane Handbook for systematic reviews of interventions will be followed. Background: Ebola virus disease (EVD) is a highly contagious illness caused by the Ebola virus. It is characterized by fever, severe bleeding, organ failure, and has a high mortality rate. EVD outbreaks have occurred primarily in Central and West Africa, posing significant public health challenges. Any area affected by an outbreak should be immediately quarantined, and people confirmed to have the infection should be treated in isolation in intensive care. There is currently no licensed treatment for EVD. Supportive care plays a crucial role in managing EVD patients, which includes providing fluids, electrolytes, oxygen therapy, and treating specific symptoms or complications. Potential new therapies such as monoclonal antibodies and antiviral drugs are being developed, but their effectiveness is still under evaluation. Ebola vaccines are designed to prevent EVD. Several experimental vaccines have been developed, including rVSV-ZEBOV and Ad26.ZEBOV. These vaccines have shown promising results in clinical trials. They have been used in outbreak response and preventive campaigns, contributing to efforts to control and eliminate the disease.
