Nigeria has experienced increasing insecurity in recent years due to the activities of bandits and terrorist groups, particularly in the North-East, North-West, and parts of the North-Central regions. These activities have resulted in loss of lives, destruction of property, displacement of people, disruption of economic activities, and a decline in national development. This paper examines the current insecurity orchestrated by banditry and terrorism in Nigeria using the explanatory research design, secondary sources of data and the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) developed by Fred Davis (1985). Literature was reviewed on the nature of banditry and terrorism, the role of technology in combating these security challenges, and the application of TAM in explaining the acceptance and use of security technologies by relevant stakeholders. It highlights the use of technological innovations such as surveillance drones, biometric identification systems, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), satellite surveillance, Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV), artificial intelligence, and digital communication systems in improving intelligence gathering and security operations. The findings revealed that corruption, insufficient technical expertise, and resistance to technological change have limited the effective utilization of these technologies. It concludes that the successful adoption of modern security technologies depends on users' perception of their usefulness and ease of use. Thus, recommends increased government investment in security technology, continuous training of security personnel, and stronger collaboration among security agencies and relevant stakeholders to enhance national security and effectively combat banditry and terrorism in Nigeria.
