International audience The Eastern Maroon Creoles (EMCs) or Nenge(e) are typically classified as conservative English-lexified Caribbean Creole languages because the bulk of their lexicon (76%) derives from English. However, they display important structural differences to varieties of English and English Creoles in the region and beyond, and are not mutually intelligible with either.
