More than a meeting, the established moments of electoral propaganda in Benin seem to take on
the appearance of a republican convention and the populations scrutinize the public media while
burning to be informed. There is therefore programming of reception, integration of the consumer
for the construction of a democratic event. This contribution looks at this space of confrontation
created and organized during the legislative elections of 2023 to understand the constructs in terms
of identity for the public consumer. Where is it in reality between the organizing institution of the
space, moderation (the media) and the speaking authorities (the representatives of competing
groups, competitors). This semiotic study, supported by semi-automated processing (Google and
ChatGPT-4), ventures into the critical sociology of media content and media economics to reveal
the altered consumer-public shaped by this space.
