Abstract

Transportation and logistics serve as the foundation of modern economies by facilitating the efficient movement of goods, people, and information across geographic spaces. In emerging economies such as Nigeria, logistics infrastructure plays a crucial role in enabling trade, supporting industrial activity, and sustaining e-commerce growth. However, persistent challenges including poor infrastructure, inadequate technology adoption, and fragmented delivery networks continue to limit logistics efficiency and business competitiveness. This study examines the factors influencing the integration of intelligent logistics within Nigerian e-commerce systems, emphasizing the role of technological innovation, infrastructural readiness, and institutional support. Drawing on contemporary literature from 2020 to 2025, the study explores how intelligent logistics driven by artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), automation, and data analytics can enhance mobility, optimize distribution, and improve last-mile delivery efficiency. Furthermore, the study investigates the behavioural dimensions of intelligent logisticsdecision-making by analysing the relationships between intelligent logisticsknowledge, intelligent logisticsattitude, intelligent logisticsself-efficacy, and intelligent logisticsmanagement practices on saving behaviour. Empirical results reveal strong positive correlations between these intelligent logisticsvariables and saving behaviour, with intelligent logisticsself-efficacy showing the highest influence (r = 0.860), followed by intelligent logisticsattitude (r = 0.842), intelligent logisticsknowledge (r = 0.794), and intelligent logisticsmanagement (r = 0.687). These findings underscore the importance of both cognitive and psychological factors in shaping responsible intelligent logistics. The research concludes that the successful integration of intelligent logistics in Nigerian e-commerce requires not only technological and infrastructural improvements but also supportive policy frameworks and intelligent logisticsliteracy among stakeholders. By promoting digital transformation in logistics and enhancing intelligent logisticsmanagement capabilities, Nigeria can achieve a more resilient, efficient, and inclusive digital economy.
