This paper investigates the impact of artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, and data analytics on audit processes and assurance services in the digital age. The objectives of the study are twofold: 1) to assess the current level of awareness and adoption of AI, blockchain, and data analytics technologies among audit professionals and 2) to examine the perceived benefits and challenges associated with the integration of these technologies in audit processes. To achieve these objectives, a comprehensive survey was conducted among audit professionals in Deloitte, EY (Ernst & Young), KPMG, and PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers) in Nigeria. The survey collected data on the participants' awareness and adoption of AI, blockchain, and data analytics technologies, as well as their perceptions of the benefits and challenges associated with these technologies in audit processes. Statistical analysis was performed using ANOVA to determine if there were significant differences in awareness and adoption levels, as well as perceived benefits and challenges among the participants. The findings of the study revealed that there is a significant difference in the awareness and adoption of AI, blockchain, and data analytics technologies among audit professionals. While some professionals showed a high level of awareness and adoption, others lagged behind. The study also identified a range of perceived benefits, including improved efficiency, enhanced audit quality, and increased client value, as well as challenges such as the need for continuous professional development, ethical considerations, and regulatory complexities.
