This research aims to investigate the relationship between environmental knowledge and the intention to engage in green practices, specifically focusing on the mediating role of green attitudes within the industrial sector of Khartoum State in Sudan. A quantitative approach was utilized, featuring a cross-sectional survey design. Data was gathered from 215 employees in the manufacturing sector, yielding 200 valid responses. The analysis was conducted using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) techniques. The findings reveal that environmental knowledge significantly and positively impacts green attitudes (Path 0.492, P=0.00) and green intentions (Path 0.271, P=0.000), whereas its direct effect on green behaviour is not significant (Path 0.013, P=0.854). Green attitudes have a positive effect on green intentions (Path 0.544, P=0.000) and green behaviour (Path 0.426, P=0.000). The mediating effect of green attitudes and intentions was validated (Path 0.108, P=0.008). This research adds to existing literature by analysing the relationship between green knowledge and behaviour in a developing economy facing resource limitations. It offers important insights for policymakers and industry leaders about strategies to advance sustainable manufacturing practices. Promoting environmental knowledge and developing positive green attitudes may be effective methods for encouraging sustainable practices in the industrial sector.
