This study examines the root causes of the crisis, including colonial legacies, weak governance, climate change, and jihadist insurgencies, while assessing its devastating humanitarian impacts—food insecurity, displacement, and migration. The paper evaluates current regional and international responses, such as military interventions and development aid, highlighting their limitations due to coordination issues and funding shortages. Finally, the study proposes sustainable solutions centered on governance reforms, climate adaptation, and long-term economic development, emphasizing the need for local ownership and regional cooperation. By integrating historical, political, and environmental analyses, this research provides a holistic understanding of the Sahel crisis and actionable policy recommendations.
