Executive Summary The global healthcare landscape is currently undergoing a seismic shift driven by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning. For Ethiopia, a nation of over 120 million navigating a dual burden of infectious and chronic diseases, AI offers a theoretical lifeline to optimize scarce resources and democratize access to care. However, the translation of this digital promise into clinical reality remains largely unmapped. This report, The State of AI in Ethiopian Healthcare: A 2025 Landscape Analysis, serves as a foundational audit of the human infrastructure required to support this technological transition. Based on a rigorous cross-sectional survey of 449 healthcare professionals, this study bridges the gap between the rhetoric of "Digital Health" and the operational reality of bedside implementation. Key Findings The Knowledge-Practice Paradox: While theoretical awareness is high—with over 75% of respondents correctly identifying AI definitions—operational integration is fragmented. Statistical triangulation reveals a weak correlation (r=0.14) between AI Knowledge and Practice, indicating that infrastructure, not education, is the primary bottleneck. The Anxiety Curve: A significant 33% of the workforce expresses a deep-seated fear of professional displacement. Surprisingly, this anxiety is often higher among specialist physicians than junior staff. Geospatial Decentralization: Contrary to the assumption that innovation is solely the domain of Addis Ababa, regions like Sidama show surprising pockets of high-intensity adoption, suggesting a potential for decentralized "Centers of Excellence." Methodology The study utilized a quantitative framework rooted in the Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice (KAP) model. Data was collected via a cross-sectional digital survey of 449 validated respondents, including Medical Doctors, Nurses, Public Health Officers, and IT Specialists across multiple Ethiopian regions (including Addis Ababa, Oromia, Amhara, and Sidama).
