throughout the pre-graduate curriculum for medical students. During the internship, the
student must continue to learn without having a precise learning path. Objective. To
demonstrate the value of structured training in pediatric emergencies for interns, while
comparing the effectiveness of different active teaching methods (simulation vs.
Serious game). Methods. Comparative, prospective study in the Pediatrics
Department at the Benflis Touhami University Hospital Center Batna – Algeria - during
the 2023 - 2024 academic year. Medical interns newly recruited to the department
were divided into three groups: group 1 underwent unstructured training (ordinary or
classic training); group 2 underwent structured simulation training and group 3
underwent structured serious game training. A knowledge assessment test was drawn
up at the start and end of the training courses. Results. Seventy-nine interns
participated in this study. We noted a statistically significant improvement in students' grades between pre-test and post-test (p<0.0001) for all three types of training. The difference in mean scores was 6.09 for regular training, 8.54 for simulation training and 11.85 for role-play training. Conclusion. It is essential to apply structured training during internships.
