Libya, as one of the most water-scarce countries in the world, faces interconnected existential challenges across the Water, Energy, Food, and Ecosystems (WEFE) sectors. This paper aims to analyze the interdependencies and complexities among these sectors within the Libyan context, drawing on the latest reports from the United Nations, UNDP, and FAO, in addition to local institutional developments. The paper reviews the conceptual framework of the WEFE Nexus and analyzes key challenges, such as the heavy reliance on the energy-intensive "Great Man-Made River," fragile food security, ecosystem degradation, and the impacts of climate change. Furthermore, it presents the outcomes of high-level policy dialogues and ongoing initiatives, discussing how to move beyond the traditional "Siloed Approach" toward integrated governance. The paper concludes with actionable recommendations to enhance institutional cohesion, transition to renewable energy, and build climate resilience, with a focus on establishing a national mechanism (a WEFE Committee) to coordinate efforts.
