This section of IJOPPIE presents songs by Naah Yemeh. The song titled “He is the one they call God” is gospel music adapted from traditional storytelling style. The song titled, Danger is coming your way (Tivena lolly lere wana) takes it source from a le/anle song women from the Upper West Region of Ghana sang and danced around 1950 to1960 (le yiele). The third song was pleading with God to save people from the corona virus during the pandemic in 2019 and its genre is Gospel.

Both le and story-telling songs, together with the dancing that goes with them, are a great source of entertainment among the Dagaaba. They are normally sung under moonlight prior to going to sleep at night. Occasionally, special performances are organized during festivals, weddings and other social activities. A more extensive literature review will appear with more songs in the next issue of the journal, IJOPPIE Vol 15.
