Tone systems database

The tone database in this bundle was collected by Larry Hyman over decades, and curated by Emily Clem and Hannah Sande in Spring 2016 as part of the Areal Linguistic Features of Africa seminar at UC Berkeley. Additional languages were added and formatted in Spring 2023. The survey database includes information on which tone heights are contrastive and present on the surface in each language.
