This study examined tourist demand for destinations in the Niger Delta in relation to tourists’ demographic attributes. Tourism plays a vital role in economic growth, yet weakly articulated tourism policies in the Niger Delta have limited the ability of destinations to meet the diverse needs of local and foreign tourists. Guided by the Theory of Attractive Quality and Packaging (TAQAP), the study assessed how factors such as income, education, nationality, family size, occupation, sex, and marital status influence destination demand. Twelve tourist destinations were selected across the six South-South states, and data were collected from 950 respondents using structured questionnaires. Descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis were employed. Findings revealed that tourist demand is significantly influenced by individual demographic characteristics, particularly age, income, education, nationality, family composition, and occupation. The study further showed that Nigerians, small family groups, students, business and political associates, and middle-income earners constitute the major patrons of tourism destinations in the region. Consequently, the study recommends that tourism facilities and services be strategically designed to address the needs of diverse tourist segments.
