The integration of PA in the African Union 2063 development agenda for PWDs will need to be shaped by policies based on sound scientific knowledge. The prevailing relatively negative health and quality of life prospects for PWDs in Africa could be an implication of inadequacy of policy and practice, a probable reflection of the nature of knowledge. In view of contributing to the achievement of the developmental ideals, especially with regard to improving access to PA and related benefits the aim of the study is to identify and synthesise evidence in PA for PWDs in Sub-Saharan African countries.
