Understanding Predictors of Attitudinal Acceptance of Intimate Partner Violence: Gender Roles and Decision-Making as a Proxy for Empowerment

This study investigates the associations between decision-making autonomy, traditional gender roles, and the attitudinal acceptance of intimate partner violence (IPV) among women and girls in four countries: the Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia, South Sudan, and Syria. Using baseline data from the EMPOWER! programme, the research examines decision-making autonomy as a proxy for empowerment and its relationship with adherence to traditional gender norms and attitudinal acceptance of IPV. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) will be applied to test these constructs and their interrelationships.
