Building low-carbon energy generation infrastructure is a key pillar of carbon mitigation strategies globally, and is an essential step for averting the worst possible trajectories of climactic change in the 21st century. Building this infrastructure will require financing and technology from international investors and project developers with the necessary experience and technology. At the same time, research in political economy has long demonstrated the existence of an anti-foreign bias and a preference for domestic firms on the part of the public in destination (host) countries for investment. This project examines public opinion regarding proposed energy infrastructure in the developing world, focusing on the countries of India, Turkey, and South Africa.
